Stress and Time Management go hand in hand with each other. Time management is the ability to use one's time effectively or making sure one's time is productive. With poor time management, Stress creeps up on us and takes over our lives. In order to practice good time management, you need to set goals for yourself and use your time wisely. There is a study that shows people who went through time management training and how their stress levels significantly decreased and their time was used more productively.
Different Techniques to Help Manage Time
Pomodoro Technique
The Pomodoro technique is popular amongst lots of students and individuals. With this technique, you would set a timer (e.g., for 25 minutes) and completely focus on the task being done. Once the timer goes off, take a short break and repeat those steps.
Pareto Analysis (a.k.a., the 80/20 rule)
With this technique, you would list some issues you are facing and identify the root of each problem. Proceed to assign a score to each problem and group the problems by cause. Lastly add up the score of each group and take action.
Time Blocking Method
The Time Blocking Method requires you to take a piece of paper, divide it into two columns and on the left pencil in every hour of the day and what you will accomplish in each hour or chunk of time. In between each time block, allow some free time in case plans change. Planning your day in advance can help manage your time better.
